Working on an Overhaul

In the next two to three weeks we will release the rest of the fall phase in one big chunk. It’s been a pretty extensive job considering we have had to make a few changes in the backend and do more editing to stabilize the site more. But expect it out soon!

P.S. We have been getting quite a few good tutorial submissions, keep it up!

Thanks

FPhase: New Tutorial Display

We promised something new was coming “soon” and it is here now! A new tutorial display has hit the scene here at Tutorial-Index.com. This new tutorial display can be seen all throughout the website while browsing around. Here is a couple of more details about it:

Organization:
- Our old display was pretty messy and crowded, this new one is way more easy to read and understand what the tutorial really is and its description.

Tutorial Detailed View: Coming Soon!
- Coming very soon to Tutorial-Index will be detailed info of each tutorial. When released, you will be able to click on the “View More Info” icon and you will see a bit more info about that specific tutorial you clicked.

Author Pages: Coming Soon!
- Also coming soon, you will see a page of each tutorial author. Meaning that for example if you were to click on Video-Tutes’ author name it would take you to a page that will display all 152 of their tutorials plus some Statistics and more!

Tutorial Commenting
- That’s right, after all the other features are released, commenting will be made available for any tutorial you wish.

That’s all for now guys, but this is only the beginning of things to come around here, stay tuned with your eyes very open and check back daily for more updates soon!

FPhase: New Newsblog and a New Logo!

Hey guys guess what? Phase 1 of the FallPhase update here at Tutorial-Index is here! We are proud to announce that ti now has a brand new Newsblog as well as a Logo to go along with it. We are very excited about this update and hope you enjoy it as much as we will.

Newsblog
- Our newsblog has a whole new look, now not only will you see the latest Newsblog Additions, but you will be able to see the 5 Latest Comments, and who made those comments. The news will also be sorted by categories from now on. These categories are Tutorial-Index Related, which is basically any topic that relates to ti. WWW, this category will be used for any blog additions that have to do with any other site outside of Tutorial-Index. Our third and last category is Administration, which will contain all the topics that pertain to administration changes around the site.

ti Logo
- As you guys can see, we now have a brand new logo up on the front page of our site, and also on our Newsblog.

Enjoy!

Listorials: RSS Feeds From Major Tutorial Websites

I happened to find this in our statistics and I was pretty fond of it. It’s a website, sort of like popurls, thats a collection of RSS feeds from tutorial websites. There was not a place for me to contact them on their page however but anyway go ahead and visit:

FallPhase: The Rundown

Ok, we pretty much have for you whats gonna be in the update so have a look:

Newsblog
Redesign

Yup, finally that “thing” gets what it deserves, an update! We are adding categories to it, and you will not know who’s actually posting the newsblog. It will also be full CSS, for faster speeds, and possible, a more beautiful design!

Website
AJAX

A great new technology is finally dawning on tutorial-index. We will use ajax in various places but we will be sure to place it where you need it most. Im pretty sure the menu might be ajax-ized but im not exactly sure. But there is a lot more going on in the works that will depend upon AJAX.

CSS Redesign
Redesigning the site to CSS will most definately speed up the site a little more, but at the same time, will be a better alternative to frames, and definately is more stylish compared to frames. And no, the html will not be redesigned, but the actual design will be altered dramatically. Be ready smile FallPhase: The Rundown. Maybe this will put us into a 2.0 Category Eh?

More Pages
1.We plan on adding a tutorial details page for a more detailed summary of a tutorial before you visit it. Commenting will be activated on these pages as well.
2.Author pages will also be administered for your use, with RSS and lots of stats and other goodies, telling you information about websites that submit to tutorial-index. This should be fairly interesting.
3.See Below.

Rating System Refocused
This one actually takes a little reading:
We are creating a fairly complex rating system to add to the design and creativity of tutorial-index, based on something I would rather not say at the moment, to keep it secretive :O. It will attribute to the new toptutorials/authors(3) page in the index. And believe me, this is something to definately keep your eye on. Im excited as well.

This update should be done in a couple of weeks, maybe even 3 but; it is definately worth the anticipation. We are currently receiving a surge in popularity as well as a great increase in the number of tutorials being submitted to tutorial-index. Keep it up. Thanks.
